Mark has over 30 years experience with the NHS as a Chartered Physio. Previously the Physio for Leicester City Football Club and Leicester Tigers Rugby Club.

A Short Biography
Mark qualified as a Chartered Physiotherapist at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff in 1982. After a short spell working within south Wales consolidating his skills as a junior therapist at Llandough Hospital and Cardiff Royal Infirmary he then continued his NHS career moving to Leicester Royal Infirmary gaining valuable experience in the Sports Injuries Clinic and eventually becoming Senior Physiotherapist in charge of Physiotherapy Services in Trauma & Orthopaedics. During this time Mark also worked on a part - time basis as physiotherapist to Kettering Town Football Club and Leicester Panthers American Football Club.
In 1988 he made the transition from the NHS to work within professional sport with a full time position as team physiotherapist at Grimsby Town Football Club and then on to Leicester City Football Club. During this time he also set up his part time private clinic for members of the general public practising from his home firstly in Syston and then Queniborough. In 1993 he switched from football to rugby and became first team physiotherapist for Leicester Tigers Rugby Football Club overseeing their transition into the professional era in 1995 and continuing in this role until 2004 when he made the decision to transfer to working within his private practice full time.
Mark is originally from Scraptoft, Leicestershire and was educated at Beauchamp College, Oadby. He is married to Eileen and together they have two daughters. Although his participating days may be over Mark continues to enjoy a keen interest in all sport.

Appointments, Treatments and Clinic Information
Appointments to see Mark are by prior arrangement and can usually be within 24 hours of your initial contact. We also run a daily list of patients wishing to take advantage of late notice cancellations. To make an appointment you can self refer or be referred by your G P, Consultant, Company Doctor, or Insurance Company. Each appointment session is one-to-one with Mark and takes approximately 40 - 45minutes. The initial appointment will include taking a full medical history (please bring a list of all your medication) and clinical examination of your problem area. Also remember to bring any relevant medical reports or x-ray information. Please wear suitable clothing in order to feel comfortable and maintain your dignity and also to enable Mark to examine you effectively - however we do have some shorts/tee shirts for you to wear if you forget or if you have to come straight from work - our clinic at Marsden Avenue has shower facilities too if needed!

Parking & Transport
Ample parking is available if arriving by car. Arrivabus Midlands operate good bus route (5, 5a) every 10 minutes between Leicester & Queniborough/East Goscote & Melton Mowbray. (www.arrivabus.co.uk/serviceInformation). Syston train station is served hourly by East Midlands Trains local services, running between Leicester and Lincoln via Loughborough, Nottingham and Newark.
Conditions Treated
With 30 years of combined experience in the NHS inpatient and outpatient physiotherapy departments along with various roles within amateur & professional sport Mark is highly qualified to give treatment and advice on all conditions. Over the years Mark has established good working contacts with the majority of General Practitioners and Hospital Consultants throughout Leicestershire and the surrounding areas.
NHS Treatment
Although we are unable to take NHS referrals at present we are aware that due to the waiting list for NHS physio services some patients may need help/advise/treatment whist awaiting their NHS appointment. Mark is able to commence interim physiotherapy and then transfer care across to your NHS physio complete with an up to date physiotherapy report to aid continuity of treatment.
MRI & X-rays
We are able to refer for independent MRI & X-ray investigations where appropriate.
Private Health Care
Mark is approved by all major private medical health insurance companies. Please note that you may be required to obtain a GP or Consultant referral for physiotherapy in order to commence any treatment. It is helpful to bring all insurance documents/details with you on your first treatment date to facilitate direct invoicing.
Charges
Please contact us on 0116 2606790 for up to date fees. Mark is a member of the Health Professions Council and is also a recognised physiotherapy provider for all major health care companies. Unfortunately we do not yet have the facility to accept payment by card.
Cancellations
We would welcome at least four hours notice if you cannot keep your appointment with Mark, otherwise a fee may be charged. Our clinic experience over the years has shown that four hours is enough notice for patients wishing to take a last minute appointment cancellation. However we do appreciate that non - attendances due to unforeseen circumstances do occur and in these instances any charges due will be at Marks discretion.
Children & Adolescents
Mark is experienced in assessing & treating paediatric and adolescent musculo-skeletal disorders/ sporting injuries. Any minor under 16 years of age must be accompanied by parent/guardian/responsible adult to chaperone them throughout their appointment session.
Home Visits
Wherever possible it is preferable for Mark to assess and treat your condition at either clinic where he has use of treatment room facilities and a choice of various medical equipment in order to maximise your physiotherapy session. However home visits can be arranged if necessary, depending on clinic workload at the time.
